We are here to help you gain financial confidence. If you live in Pitkin, Garfield, or Eagle counties and are 18 or older, you can access free, one-on-one financial counseling at no cost.

Whether you’re looking to manage debt, improve your credit, build savings, find secure banking options, or begin legacy planning, we’re ready to guide you every step of the way.

If you’re 18 or older and live in Pitkin, Garfield, or Eagle counties, you can access our free financial counseling services.
Scheduling is simple! Just click on the link which will take you to the scheduling form where you can choose your preferred language, day, time, location, and counselor. Once booked, you’ll receive follow-ups, reminders, and a link to confirm, cancel, or reschedule your appointment.

Schedule an appointment:

During your first session, we’ll:

  1. Review your financial situation with a health assessment
  2. Go over your credit report
  3. Help you set and prioritize financial goals
  4. Create a step-by-step plan to get started

Counselors can work with you on managing your money, creating a budget, paying down debt, increasing savings, establishing and building credit, opening a safe and affordable bank, preparing for legacy planning, and protecting your assets.

Legacy planning includes two key steps:

Prepare for legacy planning: Counselors can help you identify assets and prepare to take action to protect and/or transfer assets.

Protect assets: Counselors can provide resources to help you create formal documentation of asset ownership and/or asset transfer instructions.

Sessions are available at local libraries, virtually, or over the phone for your convenience.
Most sessions last 30 to 60 minutes. The first session is usually around 70 minutes to allow for a detailed assessment of your financial situation.
Yes! We’ll review your credit report and offer actionable steps to help boost your score.
While you don’t need to bring anything, documents like pay stubs, bills, or bank statements can help us give more tailored advice.
You can meet with a counselor as often as needed. Sessions are typically spaced about a month apart, but can be adjusted to fit your goals.
Yes, all services are completely free, confidential, and nonjudgmental.

No problem. Just let us know as soon as possible if you’re running late or need to reschedule. Returning clients can also reschedule through their client portal. https://fecpublic.org/portal-pitkincounty
